Seasonal Flowers for Your Wedding

It is important to remember that no matter what season it is, beautiful flowers are available for your wedding. The best advice I can offer is contact or stop into a florist and get their expert advice. Keep in mind that rhinestones, feathers and other jewels can spice up any flower arrangement. It is crucial to be creative and use your resources when planning your wedding but definitely when you are picking out your wedding flowers. Go on a flower frenzy and HAPPY FLOWER SHOPPING!

Many couples that are planning winter weddings might worry about a short supply of flower choices due to the brutal weather and plummeting temperature but in reality there are many seasonal flowers in the winter time. Poinsettia, Holly, Camellias, Amaryllis, and Roses are popular during this season as well as a unique assortment of other plants. Consider using unique arrangements with accents of pine boughs, pussy willows, holly, ivy and dogwood branches to make your winter arrangement spectacular! Add winter sparkle: Think lots of candle light. Or use hundreds of twinkling white lights with crystal stars and silver and gold glass ornaments. Or ice blue or navy accented by silver and white. It's chic!

Spring has sprung and the possibilities for flowers are endless because everything is in bloom! Flowers such as peonies, roses, hyacinth, tulips, daffodils, gardenias, gerbera daisies and lily of the valley are popular during this season. Many choices of color, shape and aroma are available to explore and the possibilities are endless! Grasses and greenery make for a natural outdoor setting. Green and white are an elegant accompaniment to a garden setting.

Summer is filled with hot weather, long days and short muggy nights but it is a great season for weddings and flower choices. Summer colors are bright and bold. Calla lilies, roses, delphiniums, snap dragons, roses and irises are just a few flowers available during this season. Lots of color, shapes and sizes are available and an array of flower choices are at your disposal! Use fruits like lemons and limes for a whimsical and chic look when filled in tall clear vases.

Fall is a season that calls for bright deep colors of red, yellow, orange, brown and a touch of green and many flowers during this season offer that color palette. Use the autumn harvest for inspiration --- think gourds, pumpkins, squashes and jugs of cider.  Kniphofia (red hot poker), Dahlias, Chrysanthemums, Hydrangeas and roses are popular this season. Flowers from other seasons are also available in the fall such as orchids and lilies. The great thing about fall is that there is an array of other fruits or plants available to provide an even more dramatic effect to your wedding flowers. Crab apples and Physalis fruits provide rich dramatic colors to any wedding bouquet! Have your flower girl toss autumn leaves instead of flower petals.
